Nestling at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Newcastle County Down, the magnificent Slieve Donard Hotel and Spa stands on six acres of immaculate private grounds, bounded on one side by the beach while the Royal County Down Golf Links frames the other.
The Slieve Donard Hotel was originally built by the Belfast and County Down Railway, as an ‘end of line’ luxury holiday destination. Construction started in 1896 and was completed and officially opened on 24th June 1898. This famous Victorian hotel has won countless awards and over the past one hundred years the Slieve Donard has proved to be one of the finest and most luxurious hotels in Northern Ireland and indeed Ireland.
